On Dublin’s prestigious Merrion Road, O’Carroll Engineering designed 74 premium cantilevered balconies for a landmark residential development. The 143 Merrion Road development in Ballsbridge is a premium residential building featuring 74 cantilevered balconies with spectacular views across Sandymount Strand.

Located less than 500 metres from the coast on one of Dublin’s most prestigious addresses, this high-end development required exceptional corrosion protection for the steel frames and anchoring components that O’Carroll Engineering designed to support each balcony.

The building’s proximity to the Irish Sea meant these structural elements would face continuous exposure to marine conditions throughout their service life.

The steel cantilever arms and stubs, though concealed within the finished balconies, needed guaranteed long-term protection to maintain structural performance without requirement for future maintenance within its design life.

The site’s location on one of Dublin’s busiest roads meant O’Carroll needed reliable delivery schedules. We coordinated our galvanising process to align with their just-in-time installation programme, processing batches to match their installation sequence.
