Macroom Fire Station Drained with Monotec

The new fire station will give the community in and around Macroom peace of mind. The Monotec drainage system recommended by Galco will do the same when it comes to ensuring efficient drainage.

The new, the two-bay fire station has easy access to the new bypass and ample room for more suitable staff accommodation. It will also increase capacity at Macroom Fire Station and equip it with state-of-the-art equipment and safety features. This will improve service and safety for the fire officers working in this station and the wider Mid Cork area community.

The €1.3m fire station is developed by Cahalane Brothers Ltd.

– One of the biggest challenges of this project was the coordination of the falls in the floor slab to achieve the finish required for the fire station appliance bay – says Ciaran Slattery, Quantity Surveyor, Cahalane Brothers Ltd. – The Recyfix Monotec and Recyfix Pro recommended by Galco proved to be very effective for the application.

Both channels are suitable for areas where the channels need to have high lateral strength and are capable of withstanding continuous compressive loads. Their ease of installation was also a major consideration.

Recyfix Monotec is a new high-capacity channel system for the surface drainage in the areas where the channels need to have high lateral strength. Channels are capable of withstanding continuous compressive loads and where ease of installation is a major consideration.

Specifying Monotec allows hydraulic engineers and contractor’s wide flexibility during the design and installation stages by reducing the number of channel runs normally required to drain a large area.

The reduction means less materials being used and fewer underground excavations, all resulting in an easy and fast installation procedure.
