Sherwin Williams Firetex FX6002
The second generation of the FX6000 Series technology, FX6002 is a unique and innovative patented technology. It delivers unparalleled speed of drying together with an extended range of approved fire scenarios and 20 years exterior durability to support design flexibility and creative exposure of structural steel surfaces in building design. This second generation extends the scope of protection to lighter steelwork than previously possible with FX6000 whilst at the same time reduces the required thickness.
Excellent Durability
The ultra-fast cure removes drying “bottlenecks” in the paint shop but also means rapid weather resistance for site applied material. Imagine, a 120-minute hollow section painted, cured, DFT checked and top coated in a single shift. Designed with excellent mechanical durability to minimise or eliminate transport and erection damage. FX6002 will also resist damage typical of a busy and congested construction site.
Firetex FX6002 is recommended to be used in Internal dry and internal uncontrolled environments without top coat; C1-C2*. Urban atmosphere exposure without top coat; C3*. C4/C5 environments with a topcoat of Acrolon™ 7300

Unitherm Platinum Intumescent Paint
Sika’s Unitherm Platinum Intumescent paint is a simple yet effective way of protecting the internal structural steel of a building in the event of fire by prolonging the structural integrity either by 60, 90 or 120 minutes depending on the predetermined requirements. Passive fire protection coatings are reactive, meaning that when the Intumescent coating comes into contact with fire or extreme heat the coating starts to expand, producing a protective charcoal layer around the steel, preventing it from collapse.
Sustainability
Sika Unitherm Platinum is solvent-free, according to the Protective Coatings Directive of the German Paint Industry Association (VdL-RL 04) and complies with the quality requirements (level 4) of DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council).
Being solvent-free ensures Unitherm Platinum is an environmentally friendly product due to the minimal use of chemical reagents. Likewise, Unitherm Platinum is Halogen free meaning it’s free from harmful toxins, allowing us to easily apply the intumescent paint in-house.
Unitherm Platinum Complies with LEEDV4 and BREEAM Requirements

Factory Controlled Process
Intumescent Paint is designed primarily for Off-Site application in a controlled paint shop environment. Its intended use is for structural steel and can be applied in one coat for up to 4mm dry film thickness. No additional sealers or top coats are required unless specific lightfast coloured finishes are required.
Off-Site Application, is now possible due to the new generation of intumescent coatings’ unique properties; hardness and water resistance, making them suitable for normal means of transport as there’s no need for any additional protection against moisture or mechanical damage.
It is easily applied with standard, airless spray equipment, requires no reinforcement, cures rapidly to a very tough and damage resistant finish, ready for handling and transport at the next day.
Durability
The lifetime cost of an intumescent coating makes it an attractive option thanks to an expected life-cycle of 20-25 years thanks to its toughness and durability and will require minimal touch ups once applied correctly.
Turnaround
The rapid curing properties of the coatings provide quick turnaround times, ensuring no projects are ever delayed due to a lengthy process. Galco can apply all coatings in-house and thanks to the rapid cure qualities we can offer next day turnaround.
