Rust Protection Methods

Steel rusts unless treated with something

Tired of painting your gates and railings over and over again? Don`t go just for “surface only” treatment – hot dip galvanizing is an application that bonds metallurgically and forms an alloy with the steel. It also and goes through the steel so the inside and outside (interior and exterior) of the gates will be treated. You are saving money and time as this is a maintenance free solution that will last your lifetime.

Buying a gate for your driveway, garden or entrance, can be a complicated process. Before you make any decisions on buying steel gates, you need to ask yourself the following question: How do I protect my gates? Should I galvanize them and protect them against rust for decades or just paint them every year of two, spending more money and time over the years and letting them rust eventually.

If you still want your gates to be painted a certain colour we can do that for you in-house or supply you with the correct paint to stick to the freshly galvanized surface.

Protect your gates and railings

Steel needs protecting in order to retain its properties, the best way is to hot dip galvanize which provides a protective base coat that can last more than 50 years. Many gate manufacturers will give you the option to have your gate painted or powder coated directly onto the steel as a good value solution. However, be aware of incurring repeat costs for the additional maintenance required over the lifetime of your gate.
